Incas Diagnostics is a biotech company based in Kumasi, Ghana, dedicated to developing and manufacturing diagnostic devices for human and agricultural health. Its mission is to save lives by designing and producing affordable, easy-to-use, point-of-care diagnostic test kits tailored to the unique challenges of African medical and agricultural contexts. As the first diagnostic test manufacturer of its kind in West Africa and the only African-owned test kit manufacturer on the continent, Incas Diagnostics addresses neglected diseases that disproportionately affect underserved populations, particularly women and children, while also developing diagnostics for livestock health.
The company has its headquarters at 21 JK Acheampong Avenue, Ahinsan Estates, just outside KNUST and a branch at 2 Mabey Street, Haatso Ecomog in Accra.
The company is currently in its growth stage and has several tests on the market namely the Vagkit (a 3-in-1 test for vaginal infections), Drugs of Abuse (A 10 panel and 5 panel test), a test for pregnancy, a test for alcohol, a test for ovulation, Malaria Pf/Pan, HIV 1&2, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, a test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and Covid (Antigen and Antibody). The company has one product undergoing clinical trials (the YawsKit) and 9 products under various stages of development.
In the agricultural space, the company has a test for foot and mouth disease, PPR, (pest petit ruminants) and anthrax. The company also has a molecular test for Avian influenza virus and a rapid test for the detection of Sudan IV in palm oil.
The company also offers contract development and manufacturing services to individuals and organizations. The company also offers training services to educational institutions and individuals who are interested in learning the various technologies in use at Incas Diagnostics
The company plans to recruit a minimum of 100 workers in 5 years and this would offer employment opportunities to many young people. Incas Products are FDA approved. This means that Laboratories and Pharmacies as well as other institutions do not have to import products and go through the stress of getting them approved.

As production is in Ghana, there is a lot of benefits from home-produced products such as employment opportunities and economic growth. Ghanaians prefer buying Ghana-made products, in our market research it was found that 93.3% of pharmacies would rather stock a Ghana-made product.

The test kits meet the WHO POC test criteria – WHO’s ‘ASSURED’ criteria for point of care diagnostic tests, the test must be Affordable, Sensitivity, Specific, User-friendly, Rapid/Robust, Equipment-free, Delivered) and in all cases, Incas Diagnostics test kits are either of superior quality or the same quality as these imported products.The USP for Hospitals and diagnostic medical labs using our products will be reducing labour for their staff, follow up times will decrease allowing other issues to be addressed, patient satisfaction will be improved and overall, it will provide a cost-effective diagnosis. Our kit provides much faster and cheaper diagnosis than labs hospital.
